Evaluation of entries and exterior steps, stairs and handrails, bathrooms, kitchen reach and storage, lighting and switch placement, flooring and transitions, bedroom and nighttime paths, and emergency access
Photo documentation of each identified concern
A written report with recommendations ranked as immediate, near-term, and long-term
No-cost and low-cost fixes listed alongside larger modifications, so the report is useful at any budget

Most contractors look at the house. Most clinicians look at the person. This assessment looks at both.
Cate spent more than twenty years in nursing, healthcare leadership, and disability access before co-founding Wynthor. She has also renovated multiple homes from the studs out. That combination shapes every recommendation: what will actually reduce risk, what it will take to build, and how to do it without making the house feel like a facility.

Includes the pre-visit conversation, on-site walkthrough, photo documentation, written report, and follow-up call.
The report is yours. Use it with Wynthor, another contractor, a handyman, or on your own. There is no obligation to remodel.
If you build with us, the assessment fee is credited toward any Wynthor project signed within [90] days.
Not included: Clinical or medical evaluation, product purchases, or installation work. If anything in the home suggests a need for clinical input, we will say so and recommend a follow-up with your healthcare provider or an occupational therapist.

Should the person who lives in the home be there? Yes, whenever possible. The most useful recommendations come from watching how someone actually uses the space.
Is this a medical evaluation? No. This is a home environment assessment. It does not replace an evaluation by a physician, physical therapist, or occupational therapist, and it works well alongside one.
Do you only recommend work Wynthor can build? No. Many of the most effective changes cost little or nothing: moving furniture, adding lighting, removing a rug. The report includes those first.
Can Wynthor complete the recommended modifications? Yes. We build everything from grab bars and improved lighting to curbless showers, widened doorways, and first-floor primary suites.
Can I order an assessment for a parent? Yes. Many assessments are arranged by adult children. With your parent's permission, we can include you in the walkthrough and the follow-up call, in person or by phone.
